Weekend Getaways Under $500
The countdown to summer has started and I'm bringing some great getaways that can give you relaxation and excitement under $500. I'm highlighting some places I like to travel to for a quick inexpensive trip and your hotel and gas if you're up for a roadtrip will be under $500.
4. TYBEE ISLAND, GEORGIA
Let's get started on the East Coast because it's close to my home. Book an Airbnb private beachfront condo for 1-2 nights for a quick weekend getaway. Most check-in times are around the afternoon that's ok especially if you plan on driving early Saturday morning. Atlanta traffic is crazy thick going 75 South most people are traveling to Florida on Fridays plus you have commuters. Arriving early gives you some time to grab a bite to eat, The Crab Shack has great fresh seafood with outside sitting for a great view.
After a meal you should be ready to check-in to your beachfront rental. Get settled and freshen up for some beach time and visit the Tybee Pier & Pavilion which is located just off U.S. Highway 80 right at the end of Tybrisa Street. You have the option of a few bars and Wet Willie's for a little nightlife. On Sunday you can have some breakfast at a local restaurant and possibly do some sunbathing before packing up and heading back home.
3. DESTIN BEACH, FL
On the Gulf of Mexico this is the perfect place for beautiful beaches, boat excursions and nightlife. If you're looking for family fun I recommend Buccaneer Pirate Cruise for the younger kids. For some adult fun there's a good night spot called AJ's Seafood & Oyster Bar right on the Harbor. The best place for drinks to go while you walk on the Harbor is Jester Mardi Gras Daiquiris they also have great pizza.
2. FLORIDA KEYS
I love Florida mainly because the state gives you so many different things to do. Orlando is a frequent stop for me along with my number 4 destination and Miami has become second nature.
I love travelling down to the Keys anytime I'm near Miami. It's a whole different world. As you're driving down to the sourthern tip you are surrounded with nothing but beach on both sides. The street signs are now in the water and intended for boats. You feel as though you could stretch your fingers out and touch the Caribbean islands you are so close. I would recommend securing a hotel with Booking.com for a great rate. You have a good choice of resorts and hotel chains to choose from. If you're into water sports you should try Florida Keys Watersports Company for a Snorkling/JetSki tour.
1. BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO
If you're near the West Coast this destination is an absolute must, with Phoenix, AZ a little over 200 miles away. A quick road-trip is nothing for a weekend getaway. Make sure you have a passport ready this will be a requirement. A nice beachfront Penthouse rental or an All-Inclusive resort stay will be suffice and well within budget. Enjoy whale watching, boat rides past rock formations and sea lions all in a day. Nightlife includes an array of bars, cantinas, clubs and music venues to choose from.
I'll highlight my trips to these locations over the summer and be sure to follow and tag me on all social media with your getaways!
